The Bow Hunter

Bow Hunters are folks that like to hunt for deer in a more traditional way with a compound bow and arrows.  A Bow Hunter prides himself (or herself) on the art of stealth.  Stealth is the ability to move throughout the woods while making little or no sound.  This is one of the most important skills you will need to master when bow hunting because it is neccessary to be able to stalk your whitetail deer and then move in quite close to take a shot.  Bow Hunters love this style of deer hunting because it is a much more intimate form of deer hunting allowing the hunters to be more in touch with nature.  This requires the hunter to manuver much closer to the deer than a rifle hunter in order to get a clean kill shot.  Bow Hunting requires a unique set of deer hunting skills and a special assortment of gear that helps conceal the hunter, or camouflage, the hunter from the deer.  Hunters wear camouflage, camo for short, clothing in an effort to blend into their surroundings.  A high quality camo outfit can "hide" a deer hunter right out in plain sight.  So, whether you are a bow hunter or a rifle hunter be sure and get a high quality set of full camo gear.  It really makes the difference!

A Bushnell Bow Hunters Arc Rangefinder is an excellent choice for the serious bow hunter.  If help you calculate distance and arc to help improve your shot.  A quality compound bow can be a sizable investment so it's a good idea to protect your equipment with a Plano Single Bow Case or maybe the Double Bow Case will better suit your needs.

The Rifle Hunters

The other group of deer hunters in America is the rifle hunters.  This group tracks their deer in much the same way as the bow hunters but with one big difference.  A deer hunter using a high powered rifle with a scope can setup for a shot at a much longer range due to the better quality of rifles, scopes, and high velocity ammo available on the market today.  Many of these deer hunters tend not to stalk their prey as much, but choose instead to utilize a tower deer stand or maybe a tree stand in order to stay in one general area and wait for the whitetail deer to come to them.  This type of deer hunting is based on scouting out the feeding patterns and migration paths of the herd of deer in this area during the off season in order to know where the hunters deer stand should be placed for the highest potential of seeing a trophy whitetail deer.  Improve you scouting skills with one of the many quality game cameras available on the market today.

If you are hunting an area that you are not familer with then you should consider hiring a hunting guide, for at least your first hunting trip.  A good quality hunting guide can help insure a successful hunt for you and your friends.  They know the terrain better which will help keep down injuries to the members of the hunting party, and the hunting guides are aware of the migration paths & feeding patterns in the area you plan to hunt.  In the long run, most hunters find that hiring a deer hunting guide is usually money well spent.

Both forms of hunting can be very rewarding and successful.  Which ever way you like to hunt for whitetail deer the main thing to remember is to observe and follow all hunter safety rules at all times and to enjoy the great outdoors.
